If poverty strips me of dignity, \r\nwhy is there stigma in a journey \r\nthat hasn’t found how to flourish?\r\n\r\nThere is a multicolored fan within\r\npoverty, the poorest in life are\r\nthe poor of empathy, the poor can\r\nbe whoever lacks basic dignity, \r\ntoward oneself but others as well. \r\n\r\nWhen I say, I am poor and point\r\nto a wallet until there are stretch \r\nmarks, that is not what I should\r\nmean. Poverty should not address\r\nthe size of an account but a lack. \r\n\r\nIf I lack sincerity, I am poor. \r\nIf I lack humility, I am poor. \r\nIf I lack amiability, I am poor. \r\nIf I lack civility, I am poor. \r\n\r\nIf I lack a mirror to observe\r\nmy reflection as I hurt another, \r\nI am the poorest. I am poor because\r\nI lack the necessary to find joy\r\nin offering rather than taking. I am\r\npoor because I lack the insight \r\nto give those who lack food, a drop \r\nof giveness, those who lack water, \r\na well that nourishes the abyss \r\nof hurt until the swollen throat \r\ncan speak, can denounce the stolen. \r\n\r\nIf I listen to those who have lacked\r\nwater, food, bare essentials, I would\r\nfeel naked. There’s a barrier between\r\nus and knowledge. If I do know, why \r\ndo I feel disdain toward the poor? \r\n\r\nIt is because I am poor but deny\r\nit. I deny my poorness because \r\nit can’t be seen, it can’t be touched, \r\nit can’t be counted, can't be measured, \r\nyet I am poor. I'm the poorest \r\nof the poor as I seek for recognition\r\nwhile dismissing those who also seek\r\nfor my approval. If my entire attention\r\ncould be contained in an embrace, that\r\nmoment would linger in a forever that \r\ncan’t be bought, can’t be sold, can't \r\nbe tainted, can't be broken in sorrow. \r\n \r\nRichness is not found in a shop window, \r\nbut in a photographic stillness \r\nthat finds transcendence in a motion\r\ntoward the immaterial whose precious \r\ndesire is to allow a space for growth.     \r\n  \r\n<\/pre>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
