Realize \r\na fact: internalized fear,\r\nunchallenged strays us away \r\nfrom what lies beyond us.\r\n\r\nUnder scrutiny, \r\nfear is deceit. \r\n\r\nCommon delusion, \r\nas it departs us \r\nfrom the sunshiny,\r\ntelescopic insight \r\nfrom the expanse. \r\n\r\nBe cautious \r\nof impatience.\r\n\r\nIt creates myths, \r\nirrational undertones.\r\n\r\nSuperficially \r\ninnocuous:\r\nto love unconditionally \r\nagainst it all, \r\nto negate desire itself,\r\nreach the upmost.\r\n\r\nDay in, decade out\r\nand centuries after, \r\nlegend becomes \r\na construction\r\nwe’re asked to defend, \r\nwhat originally was meant, \r\nis continually \r\nlost in belittling \r\nbattles,\r\na hope to validate shared\r\nwords which shaped our view,\r\nhelped us survive the worst,\r\nthe harshness of indifference. \r\n\r\nThe words needed yesterday \r\nto survive are not the same\r\ntoday. We pretend they are, \r\nsomehow feel right, we deal\r\nsomehow surrounded by rage\r\nas we lose what myths are: \r\n\r\nbeautifolded images, art, \r\nmetaphors drawn in scribbles\r\nyet to be unfolded origami\r\nas we realize who we are\r\nby creating composite images\r\nfrom the IRAS and Spitzer,\r\nthat reveal as the Hubble \r\nwhat beauty and awe are.\r\n\r\nIdeas trapped in cuneiform \r\ntablets should not dictate \r\nwhat we believe is genuine.\r\n\r\nWords trapped should caution,\r\npast mistakes repeat, history\r\nscolds but don't be pressured\r\nto believe: myths are facts. \r\n\r\nAs images, not evidence,\r\nfind comfort in the myth. \r\n\r\nEven when uncomfortably \r\nestranged, find your place\r\nin the vast undetermined\r\nby honoring the fact that\r\n\r\n...........I don’t know! \r\n\r\nDecide fear won’t dictate \r\nthe stories I tell myself \r\nto serenity sleep despite \r\nthe faulty rift. Despise \r\nuncertainty, don't accept \r\nit as the impenetrable.\r\n\r\nHumility is a blue-stoned\r\nriver as we realize sacred \r\nbaggage can’t calm rattled \r\ncages. Stand near the edge. \r\n\r\nIf there’s no confidence \r\nin what’s true, \r\nlook upward.\r\n\r\nI find no difficulty \r\nto realize\r\nthere’s a common \r\nsoil.\r\n\r\nMy internal Solar System \r\nneeds no false narratives.\r\n\r\nIt’s only an hour drive \r\naway, but we can’t still \r\n sit\r\n together \r\nfor a long drive \r\n upwardly\r\nto where beauty,\r\nthe serene sleeps\r\n\r\nunbeknownst to it\r\n\r\nwe observe it\r\nto confront ourselves \r\nwith ourselves.\r\n\r\nIt isn’t about a voyage,\r\nnor the Arecibo message \r\nbut a waiting necessary\r\nto stem out intolerance,\r\ngreed, impatience, fear.\r\n\r\nIf there's a THEM, hope \r\nthat to them, there's no\r\nTHEM: we're a right fist \r\nfighting with a left fist\r\nboth part of the same gist,\r\nan echo of the same body, \r\noh boy, aren’t we ridicules \r\nshrieking against our vast\r\nechoes, threatened by what\r\nwe spread in midair, aghast\r\nother-worldly lives await\r\nthirty-nine light-years away.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<\/pre>\n
Note: IRAS and Spitzer<\/a> are infrared telescopes.
